Lil Durk’s trial is happening in a courtroom, but another trial is happening online.
DJ Akademiks, Trap Lore Ross, hip-hop media, YouTube creators, social media pages, and millions of fans are all helping shape the public narrative surrounding Lil Durk before the legal process is finished.
So what happens when the MEDIA TRIAL becomes almost as powerful as the actual trial?
In this episode of The Intent Room, we break down the psychology behind the reaction surrounding Lil Durk and examine how coverage from DJ Akademiks, Trap Lore Ross, and the broader hip-hop media ecosystem influences what audiences believe.
We’ll examine:
• How Lil Durk became more than just the defendant in the public conversation
• Why Akademiks’ coverage can move an entire online audience
• How Trap Lore Ross turns complicated street and rap history into narratives people can follow
• Why audiences naturally choose sides
• How repetition can turn a narrative into perceived truth
• The difference between information, interpretation, and entertainment
• Why fans begin defending celebrities as part of their own identity
• How algorithms reward the strongest version of a story
• What brands and creators can learn from the psychology behind all of it
Then we’ll put it through The 3 Levels of Intent:
STATED INTENT:
“I’m following the Lil Durk trial.”
HIDDEN INTENT:
“I’m trying to figure out what really happened and whose version I believe.”
IDENTITY INTENT:
“The side I believe says something about who I am, the culture I identify with, and who I trust.”
That third level is where things get interesting.
Because once an audience stops saying “this is what happened” and starts saying “this is OUR side,” information has become identity.
And identity is incredibly difficult to argue with.
This episode is an analysis of media narratives, audience psychology, commentary, and public reaction. It is not a determination of Lil Durk’s guilt or innocence.

In this episode of the Top Music Attorney Podcast, Entertainment Attorney, Miss Krystle discuses the massive lawsuit between Universal Music Group and DistroKid, the growing fight over AI generated music, and why the loudest headline may not be the real story. What looks like a battle over copyright infringement and AI slop could point to a much larger shift inside the music industry.
MK breaks down what the complaint says, what independent artists should pay attention to, and how this legal fight could affect music distribution, streaming platforms, and the future of artist control. When two of the biggest forces in music collide, the people caught in the middle are usually creators.

0:00 – 89% ROAS growth without a bigger ad budget
0:19 – Setting up a cold sales campaign in Facebook Ads Manager
2:17 – Adding a 10% awareness campaign in Facebook Ads Manager
4:25 – Building a 365-day Instagram audience for Facebook ad retargeting
5:49 – The 90/10 rule: how the results actually broke down
7:56 – Putting it all together
—
We grew this client’s ROAS by 89% in 51 days without adding a single dollar to their daily ad spend.
In this video, I break down the exact campaign structure behind that result — a local restaurant running Facebook Ads Manager for their lunch specials, stuck at a 1.99 ROAS on a cold sales campaign alone. Instead of increasing the budget, we reallocated just 10% of it to a new awareness campaign optimized for ad recall lift, while building a 365-day Instagram engagement audience to retarget alongside the existing cold targeting. That’s the 90/10 rule in action: 10% awareness, 90% sales.
The result: ROAS jumped to 4.15 on the sales campaign, 3.77 blended overall, while cost per purchase dropped from $9.64 to $6.33. This is the same principle I use with creators and brands at DuPree X — sales campaigns need fresh signal to work efficiently, and a small awareness layer is often what actually unlocks it, not a bigger budget.
